Manvel, Texas – October 20, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Thirty-four of the 100 eligible law firms received no measured mentions in the October 2026 National 100, according to the latest Answer Index published by AEO Engine. The edition tracks firm mentions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, offering law-firm marketing teams a view of visibility within a defined set of AI answers rather than traditional search rankings.
The October National 100 findings show that mentions were concentrated among a small group. The 10 highest-ranked firms accounted for 51.9 percent of all tracked firm mentions, while the other 90 eligible firms shared 48.1 percent. These figures describe the selected firm universe and measured answers, not every law firm or every legal search in the United States.
Presence also varied across the four engines. Twenty-eight of the 100 firms appeared in answers from all four, while 16 appeared in only one. The 34 firms with no measured mentions are shown as tied and unranked at a zero score. The different coverage levels illustrate why an appearance in one engine does not establish consistent visibility across the others.
Morgan & Morgan held the highest share of voice in the edition at 18.2 percent, followed by Cochran Firm at 5.5 percent. Share of voice is calculated as a firm’s mentions divided by all tracked firm mentions in the answer corpus. It is separate from appearance rate, which measures the share of tracked questions naming a firm at least once. Morgan & Morgan’s reported appearance rate was 36.7 percent.
The National 100 uses 300 questions spanning legal practice areas, matter types and location phrasings. Running each question across four engines produces 1,200 answers. According to the published methodology, questions are weighted equally, and the question set is frozen once live. A change requires a version update because changing the questions can break month-to-month comparability. Firm mentions are matched against maintained records covering legal names, alternative brands, common misspellings and domains.
The eligible universe consists of 100 firms selected from those actively marketing in the relevant market, using directories, advertising presence and market research. Domain Rating from Ahrefs and estimated monthly organic traffic from DataForSEO appear as background information but do not determine rank. The index measures AI visibility, not legal competence, case quality or the suitability of a firm for an individual matter.
AEO Engine discloses client relationships on the board and states that client and nonclient firms undergo the same measurement and parsing. The company says rankings are not for sale and the index carries no sponsors. The National 100 sits alongside separate practice-area editions, including family law AI visibility rankings; figures from those distinct cohorts should not be treated as National 100 results.
The October edition includes a downloadable data sample with firm names, ranked or unranked status, share of voice, appearance rate, engine coverage and client flags. It does not expose the live questions or stored answer text. The methodology states that journalists and researchers may review the full question set under a nondisclosure agreement. Exact prompts remain private to reduce the risk of firms optimizing specifically for the test.
The results are a snapshot, not a permanent standing. AI answers can vary by phrasing, session and time. Absence from this measured corpus does not establish that a firm never appears elsewhere, and a high visibility score does not demonstrate client acquisition or revenue. Those distinctions keep the findings focused on the observable outcome: which eligible firms the sampled answers named.
