JALISCO, Mexico and PARIS, Oct. 22, 2026
The Ministry of Tourism presented the state’s offerings to French travel agencies, media outlets, and strategic stakeholders ahead of the launch of the new nonstop Paris–Guadalajara route
The strategy aims to position Paris as a gateway to Jalisco, encouraging visitors to extend their itineraries to other destinations across the state so that the benefits of tourism reach more communities
JALISCO, Mexico and PARIS, Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — To promote Jalisco as a diverse and competitive tourism destination in the French market and expand its presence in Europe, the Government of Jalisco, through the Ministry of Tourism, is carrying out a promotional and strategic engagement agenda in Paris ahead of the new nonstop air connection to Guadalajara.
The Ministry of Tourism delegation, led by Michelle Fridman Hirsch, presented the wide range of experiences the state offers and highlighted a proposal inviting travelers to explore different regions, including Tequila’s agave landscape, the Costalegre coast, the Magical Towns, Lake Chapala, the state’s cuisine, and its cultural heritage.
The strategy gained momentum following Aeroméxico’s announcement of a new nonstop Paris–Guadalajara route, scheduled to begin on April 14, 2027, with three weekly flights and more than 1,500 seats per week.
The connection will shorten journeys that previously required a layover by more than four hours and make Jalisco more accessible to European travelers.
“We not only expect to welcome many more tourists from France, but from across the continent,” said Michelle Fridman, Jalisco’s Minister of Tourism.
The European market presents an opportunity to increase tourism spending in the state, as its travelers tend to stay more nights and spend more during their visits.
The delegation held meetings with key stakeholders involved in tourism promotion and connectivity between Mexico and France, including Atout France, France’s tourism development agency; Aeroméxico, an airline connecting Mexico with international markets; and France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, which is responsible for diplomatic relations and international cooperation.
It also met with Mexican inbound travel agencies affiliated with Conexstur (Mexico’s National Council of Tourism Service Exporters), an organization that brings together companies specializing in tourism services for international visitors, such as tours, travel circuits, and experiences in Mexico.
Together, these meetings make it possible to explore opportunities for collaboration, destination promotion, the marketing of experiences, and engagement with professionals who organize travel to Mexico.
With French authorities, the delegation reviewed the processes used to establish travel advisories for Mexico, with the aim of strengthening the information available to travelers and helping ensure that those who visit Jalisco have clear guidance about its destinations.
The agenda included a meeting with Mexico’s ambassador to France, Blanca Jiménez Cisneros, as well as meetings with Joaquín Angulo, Latin America Director at Galeries Lafayette, and Sophie Mandrillo, Global Director of Marketing and Partnerships.
The new connectivity will also help promote business travel and strengthen ties between French and Mexican companies, given the importance of tourism and industry in Guadalajara and throughout the state.
For Jalisco, Paris represents a gateway to the continent. The strategy seeks to encourage those arriving in Guadalajara to extend their journeys to other destinations and discover the state’s diversity, with a multi-destination approach that distributes the benefits of tourism among more communities.
The launch of this route coincides with the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France and represents an opportunity to deepen ties between the two through tourism, culture, business, and connectivity.
Through this promotional agenda, Jalisco is strengthening its presence in the European market and leveraging the new air connection to attract more visitors, expand itineraries into different regions of the state, and create opportunities for economic development through tourism.
