Early integration work is underway now, with the companies targeting commercial products from 2029. The collaboration aims to contribute critical European technologies to a sovereign AI infrastructure stack, strengthening Europe’s industrial competitiveness and strategic autonomy. The collaboration was announced during the AI Infra Summit 2026, hosted by Kisaco Research at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

By 2028, AI inference is projected to overtake training as the largest single source of power consumption in data centres, according to McKinsey. Power has already become the binding constraint on AI infrastructure, and nearly half of global data centre projects due to complete this year face delays tied directly to power supply limits. In the US alone, over $130 billion in projects were blocked or delayed in the first quarter of 2026, driven largely by energy costs and local opposition to new data centre construction. Much of that cost stems from moving data between compute and memory. EUCLYD’s compute architecture and FMC’s persistent nvDRAM+ technology aim to close that gap – keeping data closer to compute for greater efficiency, lower operating costs, and improved performance.

This collaboration brings together two of Europe’s most well-capitalised AI hardware companies, having raised more than €300 million combined to date. EUCLYD, based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, is developing next-generation AI compute and AI factory infrastructure. FMC, headquartered in Dresden, Germany, develops advanced memory technologies – including persistent nvDRAM+ and high density Cache+ – designed to address performance, capacity, persistence, and power constraints in modern AI systems.

The companies will align their compute, memory, and system architectures, and pursue joint commercial opportunities to bring this to market.
The underlying architecture is designed around data residency and security by construction – keeping sensitive data local and isolated rather than reliant on public cloud infrastructure. While the collaboration is rooted in Europe, this approach to secure, sovereign AI infrastructure is applicable to any organisation, industry, or nation with similar requirements, including regulated sectors such as defence, banking, and healthcare.

Closing the Memory Gap
The collaboration will also explore new AI architectures enabled by persistent nvDRAM+, including innovative approaches to AI model state, KV-cache, checkpointing, recovery, and selective persistent working data. EUCLYD and FMC will enable the tight integration of compute and persistent memory to create more power efficient, scalable, resilient, and innovative AI infrastructure.
