Dayton, OH, October 26, 2026 —

Law enforcement in the Dayton area is offering parents Halloween safety guidance, with attention to children being visible in the dark and caution around trick-or-treat candy. The guidance is aimed at helping families consider safety as children take part in Halloween activities.

The information provided identifies visibility in low-light conditions as one focus. It does not specify particular clothing, accessories or other measures for improving visibility. It also advises caution regarding the safety of candy collected while trick-or-treating, but the details of that advice were not provided.

The summary does not name the law enforcement agencies involved, identify a specific date or location for the guidance, or include direct statements from officials. It also does not provide details about reported incidents, candy-related concerns, or any specific inspection or reporting procedures. Those details therefore cannot be established from the information available.

The guidance addresses two concerns associated with Halloween activities: children being seen in the dark and the safety of treats they collect. Beyond those general points, no additional recommendations or explanation were included. The information provided does not describe a particular event or enforcement action; it reports that law enforcement in the Dayton area is offering advice to parents.

Parents are the stated audience for the guidance. The available summary does not say whether the advice was issued through a public announcement, distributed materials or another channel, and it does not indicate how long the guidance will remain in effect.
